initially compiled for a dear friend, melchior McElch's finest II begins with one of the most enervating tunes of the 80ies: kate bush's wuthering heights. after this shocking opener, kinderponcho continues presenting curious cover versions between compelling originals, two remixes of the famous 1990 kinski-slating, the mandatory björk bootleg, and even a sandwich of some Max Goldt lecturing of Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre with a very relaxed composition of in track#8.
probably the most remarkable twist of kinderponcho is the reoccurring work-in of conversation clips, taken from diverse long-distance calls.

[1] Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights - 4:29
her first Hit-Single. taken from the album “The Kick Inside“ ©1978 EMI

Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green.
You had a temper like my jealousy:
Too hot, too greedy.
How could you leave me,
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you. I loved you, too.

Bad dreams in the night.
They told me I was going to lose the fight,
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Ooh, it gets dark! It gets lonely,
On the other side from you.
I pine a lot. I find the lot
Falls through without you.
I'm coming back, love.
Cruel Heathcliff, my one dream,
My only master.

Too long I roam in the night.
I'm coming back to his side, to put it right.
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering,
Wuthering Heights,

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
You know it's me--Cathy!

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!

[4] Nina Hagen - Du Hast Den Farbfilm Vergessen - 3:00
music: heubach lyrics: kurt demmler
taken from “was denn... hits ‘74-`95“ ©1996, hansa rec.

High was the sea buckthorn on the beach of the Hidensee
Micha, my Micha, and everything was aching
The rabbits looked shyly out of their home
My sorrow unloaded as loudly as this into this blue sky
My naked foot stamped as badly as this on the sand
And I beat your hand off my shoulder
Micha, my Micha, and everything was aching
Do this once again, Micha, and I go!

Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen, mein Michael
Nun glaubt uns kein Mensch wie schön's hier war
Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen, bei meiner Seel'!
Alles blau und weiß und grün und später nicht mehr wahr

You forgot the colour film my Michael
Nobody will believe us how beautiful it was
You forgot the colour film, by my soul!
Everything blue and white and green,
And later not true anymore.

[5] The Jazz Passengers - The Tide Is High - 3:38
original by blondie on “autoamerican” (1980)
taken from “Individually twisted”, ©1996 32 records

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm not the kind of girl
Who gives up just like that
Oh, no

It's not the things you do
That tease and wound me bad
But it's the way you do
The things you do to me
I'm not the kind of girl
Who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one

Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn
I'm not the kind of girl
Who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one

Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn
I'm not the kind of girl
Who gives up just like that
Oh, no

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one

The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one

[6] Jasmin Tabatabai - All Along The Watchtower - 3:56
original version by bob dylan
taken from the motion picture soundtrack “bandits” ©1997 Druck

There must be some kind of way outta here
said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion...
I can't get no relief

Business men, they drink my wine
Plowman dig my earth
None were level on the mind
Nobody up at his word
hey, hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But, uh...but you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us stop talkin' falsely now
The hour's getting late, hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants, too
Outside in the cold distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
And the wind began to howl

[7] Cake - I Will Survive - 5:05
originally composed by gloria gaynor on “love tracks” (1997)
taken from cake: “fashion nugget” ©1996 capricorn

At First I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
Thinkin' how you did me wrong and I grew strong
And I learned how to get along
And so you're back, from outta space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face.
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

Chorus

Go now go, walk out the door
just turn around now
Cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
Think I'd crumble?
Think I'd lay down and die?
Oh no, not I, I will survive
Oh as long as I know how to love I know I'll be alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give and I'll survive
I will survive. Hey Hey.

It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept tryin' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me, somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you.
And so you feel like droppin' in
And just expect me to be free
Now I'm saving all my money for someone who's loving me

Chorus

[9] Ella Fitzgerald - Cheek To Cheek - 3:43
composed by irving berlin.
first performed by fred astaire, in the RKO picture "top hat", 1935

Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

Heaven, I'm in heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak
When we're out together dancing (swinging) cheek to cheek

Oh I love to climb a mountain
And reach the highest peak
But it doesn't thrill (boot) me half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek

Oh I love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek
But I don't enjoy it half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek

(Come on and) Dance with me
I want my arm(s) about you
That (Those) charm(s) about you
Will carry me through...

(Right up) To heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing, out together dancing (swinging)
Out together dancing cheek to cheek

[10] Pulp Fiction - Ezekiel 25,17 - 0:50
dialogue by quentin tarantino, quoting from the Holy Bible.
taken from “pulp fiction” motion picture soundtrack ©1994 MCA

The path of the rightous man is beset on all sides
by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny
of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of
charity and justice shepherds the weak through
the valley of darkness for he is truely his
brothers keeper and the finder of lost children
and I will strike down upon thee with great
vengence and furious anger those who attempt to
poison and destroy my brother and you will now my
name is the Lord when I lay my vengence upon thee.

[11] F.R. David - Words - 3:34
text/music by elli robert fitoussie (f.r david) ©1982 Carrere

Words don't come easy to me
How can I find a way to make you see I love You?
Words don't come easy
Words don't come easy to me
This is the only way for me to say I love You
words don't come easy
Well, I'm just a music man
Melodies are so far my best friend
But my words are coming out wrong
Girl, I reveal my heart to you and
Hope that you believe it's true cause

Words don't come easy to me
How can I find a way to make you see I love You?
Words don't come easy

This is just a simple song
That I've made for you on my own
There's no hidden meaning you know when I
When I say I love you honey!
Please believe I really do cause
Words don't come easy to me
How can I find a way to make you see I love You?
Words don't come easy
It isn't easy words don't come easy
Words don't come easy to me
How can I find a way to make you see I love You?
Words don't come easy
Words don't come easy to me
This is the only way for me to say I love You
words don't come easy
words don't come easy.

I remember you,
You're the one that made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago..

I remember you,
You're the one that said, "I love you too,
Didn't you know?"

I remember too
A distant bell,
And stars that fell
Like rain, out of the blue..

When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all,
I shall tell them I remember you.

I remember you,
You're the one that made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago..

I remember you,
You're the one that said, "I love you too,
Didn't you know?"

I remember too
A distant bell,
And stars that fell
Like rain, out of the blue..

When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all,
I shall tell them I remember you.
Oh, you..
Oh, you..
You..

[20] Nena - Der Mond ist aufgegangen - 4:00
original music composed by johann abraham p schulz, 1790.
lyrics written by matthias claudius, 1778.
taken from ”Tausend Sterne” ©2002 zwerkwerk

1. Der Mond ist aufgegangen
Die gold'nen Sternlein prangen
Am Himmel hell und klar
Der Wald steht schwarz und schweiget
Und aus den Wiesen steiget
Der weiße Nebel wunderbar

2. Wie ist die Welt so stille
Und in der Dämmerung Hülle
So traulich und so hold
Gleich einer stillen Kammer
Wo ihr des Tages Jammer
Verschlafen und vergessen sollt

3. Seht ihr den Mond dort stehen
Er ist nur halb zu sehen
Und ist doch rund und schön
So sind wohl manche Sachen
Die wir getrost verlachen
Weil unsere Augen sie nicht seh'n
4. Wir stolzen Menschenkinder
Sind eitel arme Sünder
Und wissen gar nicht viel;
Wir spinnen Luftgespinste
Und suchen viele Künste
Und kommen weiter von dem Ziel.

5. Gott. laß dein Heil uns schauen,
Auf nichts Vergänglichs trauen,
Nicht Eitelkeit uns freun!
Laß uns einfältig werden
Und vor dir hier auf Erden
Wie Kinder fromm und fröhlich sein!

6. Wollst endlich sonder Grämen
Aus dieser Welt uns nehmen
Durch einen sanften Tod!
Und wenn du uns genommen,
Laß uns in'n Himmel kommen,
Du unser Herr und unser Gott!

7. So legt euch denn ihr Brüder
In Gottes Namen nieder
Kalt ist der Abendhauch
Verschon uns Gott die Strafen
Und laßt uns ruhig schlafen
Und unser'n kranken Nachbar auch
